The IAC says the designation is a milestone in the Creative Community Pathway program, which supports the citys’ efforts to focus, or deepen arts and culture-based strategies to grow community well-being.
Fort Wayne and Wabash join ten other communities as recipients of the cultural district designation.
“Regional leaders have done a wonderful job of working together as they establish opportunities for tourism and downtown development as a strategy for near-term growth,” said Anna Tragesser, Indiana Arts Commission Artist and Community Services Manager.
The IAC says the Creative Community Pathway aligns with local creative assets, such as artists, arts and culture strategies, partners and resources, to support community’s goals to support economic and tourism development through the arts.
