Food In Transit Returns at IndyGo Carson Transit Center

Subscribe NowFood in Transit, a farm stand presented by Growing Places Indy and IndyGo, is returning on June 2 for its fourth year. The Food in Transit program provides locally-grown produce, provided by Growing Places Indy, to transit riders.
The stand will run every Wednesday through September 1.
“The health and wellness of our community is a major priority, and our team is proud to provide $15,000 in CDBG funds for Food In Transit,” said Scarlett Martin, director of the Department of Metropolitan Development. “This collaborative program with IndyGo and Growing Places Indy is directly in alignment with the Hogsett Administration’s plan to address food issues in Indianapolis.”
The farm stand is supported by the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development’s Community Block Development Grant funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“Growing Places Indy is beyond thrilled to be a part of this project for the fourth year in a row,” said Victoria Beaty, executive director of Growing Places Indy. “After the past year and the additional toll the pandemic has taken on access to fresh food, it is increasingly important to provide our local community with fresh produce. The Food in Transit program makes shopping local convenient and affordable.”
The stand will provide a wide variety of fresh, local vegetables each week. The vegetables will be pre-bundled and wrapped.
