Valparaiso-based Family Express says it has acquired a six-store chain based in Warsaw and a single store in McCordsville, growing its business by 10%.
The company says it purchased the assets of six Freedom Oil stores. Family Express President of Operations Alex Olympidis says the two companies share “compatible cultures” which will help with the transition.
Family Express says the new stores will be converted to use NCR/Optic technology at the pump, which allows customers to order and pay for food at the pump currently with the gasoline purchase.
“This removes unnecessary friction by ensuring that the customer does not go through the payment process twice,” said Olympidis, who says the technology at the pump has personal data protection from Wisconsin-based Fiserv Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV).
The company says the c-store in McCordsville includes a three-acre site which Family Express says will be redeveloped.
The company intends to add a car wash and a pet wash to the site.
