The organization says Director of Marketing and Events Kylie Carter will step in as interim executive director.
Lee joined DTSB in 2018. He will be starting a new role with the South Bend Community School Corp. as the first director of community and K-12 athletics.
“It’s an emotional thing to leave an organization you love,” said Lee. “Most people go their whole lives without working in a space where they deeply care about, where they impact the quality of life of their neighbors, friends, visitors and colleagues. DTSB was that kind of experience for me. I’m deeply grateful to have had this opportunity, and I’m grateful for the partnership of the committed staff, board members and downtown business partners. DTSB has great professionals at all levels, and it will do great things.”
DTSB President of the Board Rob DeCleene says Lee served as executive director during a “transformational time” for the city.
“A new office building, new apartment buildings with hundreds of new residents, a new Howard Park and many new restaurants opened since September 2018. And then of course the ongoing obstacles of the pandemic have significantly impacted Milt’s tenure,” said DeCleene. “He will be missed, but it’s great to know he’ll still be contributing to our community in his new position. It’s also wonderful to see Kylie Carter advance into the interim executive director role after over seven years with the organization. It’s safe to say DTSB is in good hands as we transition to new leadership.”
Carter is expected to assume the interim role effective immediately.
