The business and leadership department at Saint Mary of-the-Woods College is expanding after the college has added a Bachelor of Science in sport management. The school says the new degree will be offered on campus and online starting in fall 2021.

Men’s basketball coach Enzley Mitchell IV, will not only lead his team for the first time in competition in 2021, but will also lead the new program as he is taking on a faculty position and serving as an assistant professor in Master of Leadership Development. 

“This will be a game-changer for The Woods,” Mitchell said. “Sport management is such a competitive field, and students will be seeking this degree. SMWC students who select the new sport management major will be exposed to many segments in the discipline including, interscholastic athletics, health, fitness and recreation, intercollegiate athletics and professional sports.”

The college says the new degree could lead to employment in several fields, including athletics coach to sports marketing.
