“Indiana is a hotbed for agriculture and the biosciences as a whole,” said Geoff Zentz during the Ag+Bio+Science Podcast presented by AgriNovus Indiana. “As a whole, Indianapolis and the central Indiana region have a lot of support systems in place for tech…but for folks doing innovative things in agriculture and biosciences, they need just as much support.”
Five startups were selected to take part in the program which offers coaching and resources for the participants during the seven-week period.
They range from precision agriculture technology to help almond growers to a food analytics platform to help cafeterias and restaurants to reduce food waste.
Zentz says gBETA’s mission is to help the entrepreneurs to get their ideas or products off the ground.
“We push really hard, we’re always looking to drive results and live up to our name of accelerating what’s going on in the business. But it’s a lot of fun, and we definitely enjoy the time that we have with the companies,” said Zentz.
The ag-specific cohort is held once a year. Zentz says gBeta is already planning for next year’s cohort.
“If you’re a company working on an idea in need of support, we want to chat. It can be anything from a napkin idea up all the way up to a million dollars in revenue, we can work and help in all of those worlds,” said Zentz.
The gBETA agbiosciences cohort is hosting a Virtual Pitch night on Friday, November 20. To register, click here.
Each week, host Inside INdiana Business host Gerry Dick conducts conversations with leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Indiana’s agbioscience sector, discussing the confluence of food, agriculture, science and technology.
