Toyota USA Foundation says the money is being distributed to school districts in the 13 states where the company has operations, including four in southern Indiana.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Indiana has a large production plant in Princeton, employing about 7,000 workers.
“All students deserve equal access to education,” said Mike Goss, president, Toyota USA Foundation. “The foundation typically supports STEM, but the pandemic has exposed deeper issues that are a barrier to good education.”
The following school corporations will receive some of the funding:
- East Gibson School Corp.
- Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.
- North Gibson School Corp.
- South Gibson School Corp.
The grants will fund WiFi access points, mobile WiFi devices, laptop computers and software licenses, helping more than 350,000 students access virtual learning.
