Chicago-based developer Park Development LLC says it has received state and local approval to redevelop the Logansport Mall property. The company purchased the property last December.
“Things are coming together quickly now,” said a spokesperson for Park Development. “The next step is to secure local building permits, start demolition, and continue securing tenants.”
Park Development says it intends to rename the shopping area as “The Junction,” and will replace most of what is left of the original mall.
The area will include a Walmart Supercenter, a Home Depot and easements to build smaller retail shops between the two anchor stores.
“Great things often require patience and this development is a prime example of just that,” said Logansport Mayor Chris Martin. “The developer’s modern design coupled with new retail businesses will go a long way toward revitalizing this area.”
The developer says an existing Dunham’s Sports and a Dollar Tree will remain in place.
The company says a hotel is planned for an outlot where a J.C. Penney’s once stood.
