Amazon to Open Fulfillment Center in Whiteland

E-commerce giant Amazon Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) has unveiled its newest fulfillment center in the Hoosier state. Officials from the Town of Whiteland say the company revealed signage over the weekend at a new fulfillment center in the Whiteland Exchange Park, just off Interstate 65.

This is the eighth fulfillment center in Indiana, and the first tenant to open in the commerce park.

According to the Whiteland news release, Amazon is expected to move into the facility next month. The staffing levels are unknown.

Whiteland town leaders say Kansas City-based Jones Development began construction in the spring of 2019 on two speculative buildings, including a 430,000-square-foot logistics building. Whiteland Town Manager Norm Gabehart says Amazon sought a larger building, so the developers expanded it by 100,000-square-feet.

The Whiteland Exchange is a 167-acre commerce park with room for five large facilities in Johnson County.

Two weeks ago, the town announced Cooper Tires broke ground on a new one-million-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility in Whiteland.
