Our partners at WPTA-TV report the board of trustees has selected Mark Daniel as the top administrator for FWCS. He assumes the post July 1.
Daniel most recently served as superintendent for a school district in Normal, Illinois with an enrollment of 13,000.
The Fort Wayne system has 31,000 students.
WPTA said Daniel grew up in Allen County, having graduated from North Side High School in 1979. He also served as principal at Leo Jr/Sr High School in the East Allen County Schools system.
The announcement is the culmination of a months-long search to find a successor to Superintendent Wendy Robinson, who is retiring after 17 years in the post.
