USA Inc. notified the state this week that it intends to lay off an unspecified number of workers and it could be as high as 483.
The company designs, manufactures, and supplies metal body, chassis, and plastic injection parts for automotive companies.
In its WARN notice to the state, P.K. USA said, “due to these uncertain times, the number of workers employed at its Shelbyville plant will be markedly impacted and that dislocations will be permanent.”
The company said the exact number of workers who will be affected is unknown, which is why its entire workforce was given notice.
The layoffs begin on April 27. P.K. USA’s letter said it will retain workers based on the job skills necessary to continue operations.
