Kroger to Award ‘Hero Bonus’ to Employees

(NYSE: KR) says it is providing its employees with another bonus for work performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grocery chain says it will provide all of its hourly associates with a “Hero Bonus” of $2 per hour, which will be applied to hours worked between March 29 and April 18.
The company says the bonus will be disbursed weekly and will be added to the associate’s standard base rate of pay.
“Our associates have displayed the true actions of a hero, working tirelessly on the frontlines to ensure everyone has access to affordable, fresh food and essentials during this national emergency,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and chief executive officer. “The Hero Bonus is just one more way we continue to convey our thanks and gratitude not only to our existing associates but also to the more than 30,000 new hires who have joined in the past two weeks and those who will soon join the Kroger Family of Companies.”
Kroger’s announcement follows its previous announcement to provide its employees with a one-time bonus.
