Dooley, who currently serves as senior vice provost for teaching and learning at Purdue, will begin his new role in May.
Dooley will succeed Betty Vandenbosch, who is stepping down to become chief content officer at an education technology company. She will continue to oversee activity at Purdue Global through the month of April.
Purdue says Dooley was a key leader of the team that secured the regulatory approvals to launch Purdue Global in 2017.
“Frank has been closely connected to Purdue Global since its launch and is ideally qualified to assume the role of chancellor,” said Purdue President Mitch Daniels. “He is widely respected on our residential campuses and well-suited to building new collaborations across the entire Purdue family of schools. The current crisis is certain to propel an acceleration of online learning across colleges both virtual and traditional. Frank is just the person to lead us in adapting and competing in that new environment.”
When Dooley beings his new role on May 1, Purdue Associate Vice Provost Jenna Rickus will assume the role of interim vice provost for teaching and learning at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus.
