Crews will add a 500-foot extension to the runway which the airport authority says will help corporate tenants of the airport. Company airplanes will be able to accommodate additional, baggage and fuel because of the longer runway.
Companies that fly out of there include, Kimball, OFS Brands, Jasper Engines, Best Chairs and MasterBrand.
The airport is also adding protections to the Runway Safety Area and the Runway Protection Zone.
The project, 10 years in the planning, will also set the stage for future extensions of the runway.
The major project is funded through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Indiana Department of Transportation and Dubois County Airport Authority.
