GetGo Cafe, Other Retailers Adopt New Tobacco Rules

It’s now illegal for anyone under the age of 21 years old to purchase cigarettes, cigars and e-cigarettes in the U.S.
Nineteen states already prohibit tobacco sales to anyone under that age.
Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle Inc., which owns the Market District grocery in Carmel and 63 GetGo Cafe + Markets in Indiana, says it has implemented new policies to enforce the age restrictions.
Giant Eagle says it is placing signage in its Indiana locations to help create awareness among those customers affected by the Food and Drug Administration’s notice. Other retailers are doing the same.
Last week, President Trump signed the new minimum age into law as part of a spending bill. In April, Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) led a bipartisan group of senators in introducing the Tobacco to 21 Act.
Also on Thursday, the FDA issued a ban on flavored vaping products, with the exception of tobacco and menthol. The agency says under the new rule, companies that do not stop the distribution of fruit and mint flavors within 30 days are at risk of regulatory action by the FDA
