A New York-based financial technology company has released a list of the top 10 most financially healthy counties in the state of Indiana for 2019.

SmartAsset compiled the list using four criteria; debt as a percentage of income, bankruptcies, as well as the county’s poverty rate and unemployment rate. 

Based on this approach, the company said DuBois County is the financially healthiest county in the Hoosier State with a financial rating of 86.  

According to the SA listing, DuBois county enjoys debt as a percentage of income of less than one percent.  It also records 2.15 bankruptcies per 1,000 people, poverty rate of 8% and unemployment of 2.6%

The list shows the top four Indiana counties for financial health, including DuBois, are in the southwest region.

7. Lagrange
8. Boone
9. Fountain
10. Wabash

SmartAsset says on a broader scale, DuBois county is the 156^th healthiest county in the nation, based on those financial factors.
