The Vigo County Redevelopment Commission on Tuesday gave final approval to Terre Haute-based AIS Gauging to purchase the building.
The building sits on a six-acre parcel, part of the 900-acre former Pfizer campus.
“It’s nice to be able to start something to grow something and then to see it blossom and us to be able to hire people within the community and give back to the community,” AIS Gauging President John Young told our partners at WTHI-TV.
AIS Gauging is a manufacturer and service supplier of web measurement technologies that can detect product defects in manufacturing. Young started the company in his hometown in 1998.
In August, the company acquired a competitor, Ohio-based Indev-ACT, which required more space for the growing company.
Steve Witt, president of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corp. says AIS plans to spend in excess of $2 million to renovate the abandoned and deteriorated building.
