New Jersey-based Coach USA North America this week said it was shutting down its Airport Indiana Supersaver bus line that carries passengers from northern Indiana to Chicago’s airports. The bus line runs its local operations in the city of Highland but announced plans to stop local operations and eliminate 300 jobs.
The company will stop running its northwest Indiana operations on December 31.
Royal Excursion, which operates charter bus and luxury transportation service in northern Indiana, says it is expanding its operations to include service to O’Hare International and Midway Airports.
“This line, which is a vital transportation route that connects travelers from Northwestern Indiana and Chicagoland, has been part of our community for many years,” said Shannon Kaser, owner and president of Royal Excursion.
Royal Excursion says it plans to have the line operational starting in the next 60 days, or maybe sooner. fewer. It also intends to offer service from the University of Notre Dame to the Chicago airports, which is an important route, especially during major school breaks.
The bus line says it has maintenance locations in Valparaiso and Hammond.
