The publication reports Indianapolis-based Spectacle Entertainment, which also owns the Majestic Star casinos and the future Hard Rock Casino in Gary, is the sole applicant for the Vigo County license.
Companies had until Monday to submit paperwork to the Indiana Gaming Commission.
The publication says Spectacle is also the only gaming entity to receive approval from Vigo County for a local development agreement that’s required to accompany the application.
The IGC is now required to evaluate the potential economic benefits, tax revenue and job creation in deciding whether to award the license.
According to The Times, Spectacle is proposing to build a casino with 1,500 slot machines and table games, a Hard Rock café and a show venue.
Spectacle Entertainment was required to give up one of two casino licenses it holds in Gary in return for receiving approval to open the land-based Hard Rock Casino. That license was then allocated for Terre Haute. Vigo County voters approved casino gambling during the November election.
