According to figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Indiana’s labor force participation rate is at 64.4%, compared to the national rate of 63.3%.
Private sector jobs have decreased by 2,000 over the previous month, according to the report. The DWD says the decrease comes from losses in the manufacturing and trade, transportation and utilities sectors. However, those losses were offset by increases in the leisure and hospitality and the professional and business services sectors.
Of the surrounding states, Indiana and Illinois are the only states with an unemployment rate below 4 percent.
