The new owners, the NADR group, invested $1.5 million into the rebranded 4411 Inn & Suites. The single-story motel was previously known as the Golden Sands Motel standing along U.S. 12.
The 31-room motel is located near attractions like Washington Park Beach, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets.
“It is rare to find a city that creates so many opportunities and stays true to its commitments," said Nazar Kryvko, motel owner. "We would not be here if not for the city’s economic development agency and the mayor’s office desire to help local communities and businesses.”
The paper reports the iconic motel needed a complete makeover with a significant investment of capital from the owners and infrastructure from the city.
"My administration worked closely with the Michigan City Common Council and the Sanitary District to approve the funds and install the sewer lines for this project,” said Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer. “These are the type of transformative projects I will continue to work on to create opportunities and improve Michigan City for our residents."
