Franklin College Celebrates Successful Fund Drive

The liberal arts college, with an enrollment of about 1,000 students, received gifts totaling nearly $5 million.
The school says, additionally, annual gifting to the college’s Franklin Fund reached a record high amount of nearly $700,000
The Franklin Fund total represents gifts made by trustees, alumni, faculty and staff, parents, community friends and corporate partners.
Franklin College says the fund is a critical tool to keep tuition rates affordable. The institution says 93 percent of students receive some form of student aid from the college.
“The sustaining generosity of our donors is key to our students’ success at Franklin College and beyond,” said Dana Cummings, vice president for development and alumni engagement. “
Cummings says other gifts were designated by each donor toward specific areas of the college, such as the Franklin College Science Center capital campaign.
Franklin has also announced a gift from Indianapolis philanthropist Douglas Tillman, a 1970 alumnus of the college, for the establishment of the Tillman Lecture Fund.
The fund will help support the college’s convocation lecture series.
Franklin says this is the second notable gift from Tillman within the last year. In September 2018, the college announced a $2 million endowment gift from Tillman – one of the largest gifts in recent college history.
Tillman spent 33 years at Eli Lilly and Co., holding executive positions in the corporate personnel and general counsel departments.
