Indiana Airports to Share $21M in Federal Funding
The IAA says the effort aims to showcase local foods

Subscribe NowFourteen Indiana airports have been awarded federal grants totaling more than $21 million to help improve infrastructure, such as runways. One of the biggest recipients is the Huntingburg Regional Airport, which is operated by the Dubois County Airport Authority. It will receive nearly $7 million in federal funding.
Other big winners include:
- South Bend International airport: $2.8 million to rebuild a taxiway and develop a master plan.
- Fort Wayne International airport: $2.8million to reconstruct an apron.
- Indianapolis International Airport: $2 million for taxiway repairs.
- Evansville Regional airport: $1.9 million to improve its passenger terminal and rehabilitate a taxiway.
These grants come from the Federal Aviation Administration which is awarding $986 million in airport infrastructure grants to 354 airports in 44 states.
“This significant investment in airport improvements in Indiana will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
The U.S. Department of Transportation, which oversees the FAA, says funding for the Airport Improvement Program can be used to build and fix runways and taxiways, construct airport fire stations and improve airport terminals.
