Indiana Chief Justice Retains Post

Subscribe NowThe Judicial Nominating Commission has voted to reappoint Loretta Rush as Indiana’s Chief Justice for another five-year term. According to the commission, the other four Indiana Supreme Court Justices voted unanimously to keep Rush in the position, noting the positive attributes Rush brings to the job.
Rush was appointed to the high court in 2012. Two years later, she was first selected as Chief Justice and sworn-in by then-Governor Mitch Daniels. The commission says during her time in the top post, Rush oversaw the development of statewide e-filing of court documents, the continued implementation of a state case management the system, and led the judiciary’s response to the addictions crisis.
“I’m honored to be appointed as Indiana’s Chief Justice once again. I intend to continue working to put the people of Indiana at the center of everything the courts do to resolve disputes,” said Chief Justice Loretta Rush. “Our judges, clerks, court staff, and lawyers are committed to a service-oriented approach through numerous programs and initiatives that make the judiciary fair, efficient, and effective.”
The Chief Justice is responsible for supervising the entire judicial branch, including administration and funding of court programs across the state. Rush is the state’s 108th Supreme Court Justice.
