SoIN Tourism Approves $1.4M to Support Projects
The economic impact makes tourism the region's eighth-largest industry.

The SoIN Tourism board of managers approved $1.4 million to support emerging and existing community projects.
The money comes from the Tourism Capital Development Fund.
“These projects will help Southern Indiana continue its transformation from a collection of bedroom communities into its own destination,” said Jim Epperson, executive director of SoIn Tourism.
The Town of Clarksville is receiving $500,000 for two projects, including the development of a master plan for the town’s arts and cultural district. The city of Jeffersonville will also get $500,000 to help develop an artist village in the downtown area.
Three other awards include the Whistle Stop Public Market in Floyd County which will receive $200,000, the Vintage Fire Museum in Jeffersonville will receive $125,000 and River Heritage Conservancy in Jeffersonville is earmarked for $75,000
According to SoIN, the funds are intended to foster “transformative investments” that add new visitor experiences and enhance the quality of life for residents.
“SoIN Tourism’s small role in guiding and helping our communities compete on a global stage is really taking shape,” said Epperson.
Since inception, SoIN Tourism has supported numerous community projects totaling more than $8.3 million in investments.
