The nearly $15 million development received support from Indiana’s Regional Cities Initiative when it pumped $2.2 million in the project.
University and city officials broke ground on the project in May 2018.
The university saw its residency halls were becoming outdated and needed a major investment to update or replace. OCU says while researching the project, it felt it could create new housing in downtown Oakland City.
The new complex is three blocks from the edge of campus. The university and community leaders hope this housing and retail project will draw more business to that part of the city.
