In a notice to the state, the sanitation contractor says the loss of a contract at a food manufacturing plant in Cambridge City will result in the layoff or relocation of 55 employees.
PSSI says it has provided sanitation services at the Sugar Creek Packing Co. facility since 2016. The company will end its services August 24.
All 55 PSSI employees have been notified of the contract termination. The company says every employee at the Cambridge City plant will be offered a job transfer to another plant in the area in which PSSI provides services.
The company did not provide a reason for Sugar Creek’s decision to end the contract, only saying it recently received "unforeseen notice" of the termination.
