The Grammy-winning singer and coach on the popular competition show "The Voice" previously sang the anthem before the race in 2018 and 2011 races.
Clarkson’s performance will take place in the traditional spot in the pre-race festivities, coming before the 33 drivers are called to their cars.
"It’s a pleasure to welcome Kelly back to IMS on Race Day to sing the national anthem for hundreds of thousands of fans in the stands and millions of viewers around the world," Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles said in a news release. "She is a global icon and an incredible singer, and our fans have loved her performances of the anthem last year and in 2011. We look forward to her delivering another stirring, poignant rendition just before engines are fired for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’"
The "American Idol" winner performed the National Anthem in a duet with Seal in 2011, accompanied on piano by famed record producer David Foster. Her 2018 performance was her first solo rendition of the anthem at the race.
The 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place May 26.
