Chicago-based R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. is planning nearly $4 million in total investment at its Seymour facility. The Seymour Tribune reports the company is looking to add new equipment, including an imaging system needed to produce Census documents for the federal government.

The U.S. Government Publishing Office in January awarded R.R. Donnelley a $114 million contract for the production of Census materials. The company will spend about $400,000 on the Kodak imaging system and the Seymour City Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for the project, according to the publication.

R.R. Donnelley received a tax abatement in February for a $3.4 million investment in new equipment. Jim Plump, executive director of the Jackson County Industrial Development Corp., says the investments will allow the company to retain its 123 employees and hire 20 temporary workers, who could become full-time employees after the Census is printed.
