Holcomb to Receive Mira’s ‘Trailblazer’ Award

Subscribe NowIndiana’s technology initiative has announced it will honor Governor Eric Holcomb with its Trailblazer Award next month at the 20th annual Mira Award gala in Indianapolis. TechPoint cites efforts including the $250 million Next Level Indiana Fund, a measure requiring public schools to offer computer science and leading the charge to bring India-based Infosys (NYSE: INFY) to Indianapolis. TechPoint Chief Executive Officer Mike Langellier says the state’s continued tech growth over the last few years "wouldn’t have happened without Governor Holcomb’s championing."
TechPoint also points out measures involving open data and not requiring software-as-a-service providers to collect sales tax as tech wins that Holcomb has helped lead. Board Chair Sherry Aaholm says Holcomb "understands the critical role the tech sector plays in the state’s economy."
The organization is also applauding Holcomb for his role in bringing The Last Mile program to Indianapolis. The initiative, which is offered at the Indiana Women’s Prison and the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility, brings technology and business skills training to inmates.
The Trailblazer Award honors individuals "whose contributions have had lasting and significant impact on the state and its technology ecosystem. Previous winners include Launch Fishers founder John Wechsler, Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks and MetaCX Chief Executive Officer and former Salesforce Marketing cloud CEO Scott McCorkle.
The 20th annual Mira Award gala is set for Saturday, April 13 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Other awards to be presented include New Tech Startup of the Year, Tech Educator of the Year, Community Champion of the Year and Rising Tech City. You can find more information by clicking here.
