Indianapolis-based SnapShyft has announced plans to open an office in San Francisco. Chief Executive Officer Thor Wood says the move gives the hospitality staffing platform access to "a strategic location with highly-dense F&B (food and beverage) and hospitality markets."

SnapShyft allows businesses including caterers, hotels, banquet facilities, concert and sporting venues, bars, restaurants and more to post shifts they need covered. The platform connects them with hospitality workers available to work the shifts.

In early 2018, the company announced plans to invest more than $400,000 to establish its downtown Indianapolis headquarters and add 40 jobs. The company launched in 2016 after winning the inaugural Indy Startup Challenge.

"“We’re very pleased with our decision, and excited for what’s to come this year and beyond," said Wood in a Facebook post announcing the expansion. "Opening an office in San Francisco was preceded by diligent efforts to identify a strategic location within highly dense F&B and hospitality markets, in order to work with top brands and strategic partners in achieving our long term growth goals."
