WGU Indiana has named Alison Bell chancellor. Her 20-year higher education career includes four years as general manager of the public, online school’s operations. She succeeds Allison Barber, who led WGU Indiana since it launched in 2010, and is now president of WGU Advancement.

Bell most recently served as director of degree completion at IUPUI. She holds degrees from Indiana University and Ball State University.

"I’m honored and excited to return to WGU Indiana as Chancellor, to sustain and grow the University’s commitment to helping Hoosiers return to college to fulfill their dream of degree completion and career advancement," said Bell in a news release. "I look forward to building on the strong foundation WGU Indiana has built over the past eight years, continuing to advance the university’s mission in our state."

Barber left her position in May 2018 to lead WGU Advancement, a new fundraising venture designed to be a dedicated funding source for scholarships. The school says the effort has already received support from partners including the Indianapolis-based Strada Education Network and the Lumina Foundation, as well as the state of Indiana.
