Visit Indy Vice President Chris Gahl estimates the city is receiving up to $15 million worth of media coverage for this week’s event, which has attracted a record 1,400 national and international media members.
NFL Live: NFL Scouting Combine, hosted by ESPN personality Trey Wingo, will air Saturday on ABC from 1:00-3:00 p.m. EST.
The combine is currently contracted to stay in Indianapolis through 2020. Gahl says negotiations are ongoing to extend the deal, adding that he is "very optimistic" about the city’s chances to remain host. The event has been in Indianapolis since it began in 1987. This year’s edition is expected to attract a record 5,000 total attendees and generate a local economic impact of $8.4 million.
Gahl says word of mouth in the sports community has boosted Indy as a host.
NFL Senior Manager of Event Operations & Logistics Carly Slivinski says the combine has become a “huge media event.”
