The hospital will hold a "crane christening" ceremony, where teams that will be working on the hospital’s three new floors will break champagne bottles on the body of a crane.
The project will add about four dozen beds, a new operating room and additional laboratory and support service space. The work is expected to take about two years to complete. Friday’s crane christening comes on the anniversary of the hospital’s opening 14 years ago. IU Health first announced plans for the expansion in October 2017.
