The coding academy is considering communities including Fort Wayne, Gary, Valparaiso, Terre Haute and Evansville. Jones says the academy boasts a 93 percent graduation rate, with 81 percent finding jobs within the first two months.
"No training environment in the state, no college or university is coming close to those kinds of impacts in that short amount of time," said Jones.
During an interview with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman, Jones said the state could "really power this up" by providing extra funding for scholarships. He says the academy is filling a critical need in the talent pipeline at a time when the state needs thousands of tech workers. The academy says it designs it programs so students graduate with the coding and soft skills they need to be the kind of employees that employers want.
The announcement came today as Eleven Fifty Academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor as a registered software development apprenticeship program, making it the first in Indiana to earn that designation. Last month, the academy was also named one of the Best Coding Bootcamps of 2018-2019 by tech education website Course Report.
