(NYSE: SAVE) says, if past markets are any indication, it will likely add more new routes in Indianapolis. The airline Tuesday announced new daily nonstop service to Orlando and Las Vegas and seasonal service to Myrtle Beach. Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says Spirit has already ordered over 50 aircraft, so he believes the airline will add to its offerings in the future.
In an interview with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman, Spirit Media Relations Manager Derek Dombrowski says when the airline entered the Jacksonville market, it added three more routes before the initial offerings even began.
Daily, nonstop service to Las Vegas and Orlando is slated to begin in March, followed by summer seasonal nonstop service to Myrtle Beach in May. Spirit provides what it calls unbundled fares, with passengers paying for chosen options like bags, seat assignments and refreshments. The airline operates more than 600 daily flights to 70 destinations in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.
