Lawson says that marks the highest midterm turnout in more than 20 years, fueled in part by a sharp increase in early voting compared to 2014.
Lawson’s office says Indiana has about 4.5 million registered voters, and 2,308,258 of them cast a ballot. That is the highest midterm turnout since 1994. She says 32 percent of voters cast a ballot early, which is double the percentage of 2014.
Henry County had the highest turnout at 64 percent, followed by Spencer County at 62 percent. You can see the county-by-county numbers by clicking here. You can find turnout statistics for previous elections by clicking here.
