The programs for preschool through 12th grade will be made available in the Spring 2019 semester after the Indiana Department of Education expanded the program from grades K-6.
Dean of the Franks School of Education, Anthony Kline, says the expansion will help fill a need in many school districts.
"We reached out to our stakeholders and asked them about expanding special education and the response was overwhelmingly yes," Kline said. "Special education is one of the biggest needs in education across the country."
Some of Trine’s secondary education graduates will also be able to add special education licensures to their existing area within a four-year degree program.
