The faculty of DePauw University has approved a vote of no confidence in President Mark McCoy. It’s the first time in the school’s 180-year history that faculty has made such a vote.

The resolution stated "We the faculty of DePauw University register a Vote of No Confidence in the President of the University, Dr. Mark McCoy.”  The vote tally was 83 votes in favor, 59 against and 64 abstentions.

With 206 votes cast, 77-percent of voting faculty voted during the election that was held November 14-19. The faculty voiced several concerns, including the university’s academic mission, cutbacks in employee health coverage and the administration’s handling of recent hate crimes on campus. Over 20 student organizations also recently sent a letter to the editor of campus newspaper The DePauw to express their lack of confidence in the university’s administration.
