Illinois Company Confirms Kellogg’s Plant Acquisition

Subscribe NowIllinois-based Hearthside Food Solutions has confirmed its acquisition of the former Kellogg’s plant in Seelyville. The company did not disclose the purchase price for the facility, and says specific plans for the plant will be finalized after the approval of a local property tax abatement from the Seelyville Town Council.
Hearthside Foods says the 187,000-square-foot facility will become its second bakery in Indiana. The company, which produces snack foods such as cookies, crackers, cereals and granola, and nutrition and energy bars, also has a location in Michigan City.
"The Seelyville acquisition is about future growth," said Rich Scalise, chief executive officer of Hearthside Foods. "The facility will enable our bar and bakery business to continue to serve our customers’ expanding needs. We are looking forward to being part of the greater Terre Haute business community."
The company is working with the Terre Haute Economic Development Corp. on the local property tax abatement application, saying the "final project scope, approval, and timing will be contingent upon the application being approved in the near future by the Town Council."
Earlier this year, it appeared Germany-based Saturn Petcare was going to move into the former Kellogg’s plant, however those plans changed after the company was unable to come to a purchase agreement with Kellogg’s.
