Wabash Gift to Boost Athletic Facilities

Subscribe NowWabash College will use part of a $2 million gift from an alum and his wife to upgrade athletics and recreation center facilities. The school says the donation from Jay and Susan Allen will support a refurbished fitness center and new weight room, among other improvements.
Jay Allen is is managing director for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. His parents Bob and Betty donated $10 million in 1998 to help establish the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center. The Allen Center is the centerpiece of the Little Giant athletic complex.
“Susan and I are fortunate to have sufficient resources to live comfortably and support our children,” said Allen, who is also chair of the Wabash Board of Trustees, in a news release. “As we consider other ways to share our good fortune, Wabash College is at the top of the list.”
Wabash College is ranked the top 20 nationally by the Princeton Review for facilities (13), support (19) and intramural participation (4).
