She started her career at Ice Miller in 1999, where she worked primarily with private equity and venture capital firms in connection with their fund formation and investment transactions and private companies, across industries, in connection with their financing, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and general corporate needs.
In 2008, Rhodes was given the opportunity to lead an affiliated group of start-up medical device companies. Serving as executive director and general counsel, she established an organizational structure to facilitate economic efficiencies and optimal fundraising, technology development, liability protection and exit opportunities and coordinated all business development and clinical-regulatory activities.
Following a successful exit from this group, Rhodes spent several years providing business and legal advice to research and development-stage biotech companies and other early-stage companies. Most recently, in 2013, she started her own consulting firm which allowed her the opportunity to provide outside general counsel and strategic business advice to a number of companies at all stages of development in different industries. Rhodes served as general counsel and, often, as an executive team member for these companies, playing a material role in strategic planning and implementation, deal structuring and negotiation, private financing, and clinical and regulatory plan development and execution, among other responsibilities.
She earned her juris doctor from Indiana University School of Law Bloomington, summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, in 1999. During law school, Rhodes served as articles editor of the Indiana Law Journal, won multiple CALI awards for receiving the highest grade in law school courses and was a finalist in two Moot Court competitions.
She received her Bachelor of Science in accounting with a minor in communications, summa cum laude, from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1996. Rhodes passed all sections of the Certified Public Accountant Exam immediately following graduation and worked for a short time with, then, KPMG Peat Marwick.
