The city of Fishers and Indianapolis-based Gradison Design-Build have cut the ribbon on the first homes of a $30 million downtown residential development. The developers say the first section will have 20 homes, with a total of 50 coming over the next five years. Partner Joe Gradison says South Village of Nickel Plate gives residents high-demand housing options in a walkable, urban environment.

In interviews with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman, Gradison and Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness talked about the opportunities the downtown project brings.

The developers announced plans for South Village of Nickel Plate in June 2017. At the time, they called the project "that downtown opportunity" for homebuyers that Fishers hadn’t always had. The project also involved infrastructure upgrades including improved sidewalks and streetscapes.

Houses in the development will start in the $500,000s. The neighborhood is within walking distance of the Fishers Nickel Plate District, more than 100 miles of trails and nearly 600 acres of parks.
