Finalists Named for Teacher of the Year

Subscribe NowThe Indiana Department of Education has announced the three finalists for the 2019 Teacher of the Year. The teachers were chosen by a committee made up of former winners, IDOE staff and business and community leaders.
The finalists for 2019 Teacher of the Year:
- Sarah Wolff – Carmel High School, Carmel Clay Schools
- Derek Ruble – Noblesville East Middle School, Noblesville Schools
- Tamara Markey – McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology, MSD Lawrence Township
“Behind every successful student is a great educator,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. “I am grateful for the hard work, dedication to service, and sacrifice the top three finalists have shown every day in the classroom. Our teachers deserve support and recognition, and I am happy to honor them through our Teacher of the Year program.”
The recipient will be chosen and announced in October, and then will represent Indiana teachers at the national level. More information on the Teacher of the Year program can be found here.
