Lawsuit Targets Alleged Fraud From Car Dealers
Attorney General Curtis Hill commended the Supreme Court's decision.

Subscribe NowIndiana Attorney General Curtis Hill has filed a lawsuit against several people who allegedly conspired to defraud hundreds of customers through what his office says were "illicit used car dealerships." Hill’s office is seeking restitution for the consumers affected by the alleged actions.
Two of the defendants, Jerramy Johnson and Jeffrey Presnell, owned Wheels of Fortune LLC, Southpointe Motorcars LLC, and Mid America Auto Remarketing, according to Hill’s office. The suite alleges Wheels of Fortune was never a licensed Indiana dealer but sold more than 350 vehicles between October 2017 and June 2018.
The company would purchase vehicles through auction using access from licensed dealer BWI Equipment Inc., which is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit. Wheels of Fortune would then sell the vehicles using BWI paperwork. Hill’s office says BWI was aware of the activity and would receive $100 for every vehicle sold.
The lawsuit says the defendants are accused of several other improprieties, including:
- Misrepresenting the mileage on motor vehicles;
- Paying off an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer to falsely affirm that he inspected repairs made to salvage vehicles;
- Avoiding paying the full amount of sales taxes owed by misrepresenting the amounts paid by customers for vehicles;
- Failing to deliver titles in a timely manner
