Mishawaka-based Franciscan Health is planning a $130 million orthopedic hospital in Carmel. The proposed Franciscan Health Orthopedic Center of Excellence is expected to employ more than 430. The proposal is set to go before the city’s plan commission September 18.

Plans call for a 255,000 square-foot facility built on an 18-acre property. It is slated to be built in two phases and include medical and office space. In all, design, permitting and construction is expected to take 30 months. The anticipated annual salary of the new positions is expected to average nearly $89,000.
