Shreve Gateway Coming to IUPUI After Gifts to University

Subscribe NowDonations from Jefferson and Mary Shreve of Indianapolis will culminate in a campus gateway and scholarships at IUPUI. The amounts of the gifts for the gateway and scholarships are not being announced, but school officials call them "significant."
The Shreve Gateway will be built at the corner of Michigan and West Streets, made from limestone, stainless steel, concrete and glass. The 52-foot tall gateway will provide a visible feature at the busy campus thoroughfare. The gifts will also allow IUPUI to establish two endowed scholarships in the Shreve family name.
"The quality education that students receive at IUPUI opens a world of possibilities for an individual’s future," Jefferson Shreve said. "Mary and I are honored to be able to use our gifts to help remove the barriers that may stand in the way of students reaching that world. And while removing barriers, it is also fun to be able to create the entry focal point to IUPUI’s campus. The downtown campus has been around for about as long as Mary and I have. We’ve enjoyed watching it develop within our lifetimes."
School officials say the Shreve Study Abroad Scholarship will help with the university’s goal of becoming a global campus by increasing opportunities to study abroad, and the Shreve Opportunity Scholarship will support qualified Indiana students in need of financial help while pursuing an IUPUI degree.
The gifts count toward the $3 billion For All: The Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign. The campaign is underway on all IU campuses and will conclude in June 2020. You can learn more about the campaign by visiting here.
