Indiana Wineries Take Home Awards

Hartland Winery of Ashley was named Indiana Winery of the Year. The winery focuses on handcrafted, small batch wines from winemaker Alan Lockhart, assistant winemaker Howard Dalton and tasting room manager Brenda Lockhart. The winery had a humble beginning, in the Lockhart’s kitchen in 2006, but has now expanded to 5 acres. Alan Lockhart says the state’s wine industry has been rapidly growing over the past decade. “For the state of Indiana this is a major kudos and for me personally this is a confirmation from our peers that we’re doing well, that we’re part of the group of professionals striving to make Indiana a wine destination,” Lockhart said.
Holtkamp Winery was named Indiana Farm Winery of the Year, which is meant for wineries producing less than 50,000 gallons of wine per year. Other Indiana wineries taking home awards included Rettig Hill for its rose` and Two EE’s Winery for its ice wine. Eleven other Indiana wineries were recognized in best of class categories.
