Todd Burtron adds the $5 million Pro X Athlete Development facility demonstrates Grand Park’s potential in the business of sports that goes "beyond tournament play." The new facility, which is a collaboration among former professional athletes including ex-Indianapolis Colts Justin Snow, Curtis Painter and Daniel Muir, is expected to be complete early next year.
During an interview with Business of Sports Contributor Bill Benner, Burtron discussed the city’s willingness to consider more potential partnerships. "Research, development — obviously with Pro X — national governing bodies. We’re eager to have those conversations with any industry, any sport that would like to maybe make Grand Park their home," he said. Additional partners at the complex include the Indiana Pacers — which late last year acquired naming rights for the fieldhouse, calling it the Pacers Athletic Center — and the Indianapolis Colts — which inked a 10-year agreement to hold off-season training camp at Grand Park. Preliminary talks are also underway with the city, the local school district and the YMCA on a potential $35 million natatorium.
Burtron says Grand Park hosts some 2 million visitors per year and has an annual economic impact of approximately $120 million.
