RV Shipment Momentum Slows a Bit

Subscribe NowThe Virginia-based Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, which has an office in Elkhart, says total shipments ticked down in May, compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date, the organization says shipments are still nearly 10 percent higher than at this point last year. Survey results show close to 230,000 RVs have shipped through May. Shipping totals increased in each of the first four previous months of 2018, compared to the same month last year.
All categories of towables and motorhomes have shown gains through the first five months, except for folding camping trailers, which have dipped 11 percent. In May comparisons, truck campers had the largest gain in shipments — 43.8 percent — while all other categories except for travel trailers decreased compared to May of 2017.
